Retention Pond Deck Repair & Remodeling

2025-09-06

This strata project addressed safety and usability issues on a two-stage deck with stairs leading down to a retention pond. The lower section had significant rot and was unsafe, leaving the area unused. The strata’s request was to remove the deteriorated lower deck entirely while keeping the upper deck untouched, and to provide safe access to the pond.

Our solution was to fully remove the lower deck and build a new, sturdy stair system for direct pond access. This simplifies the structure, reduces future maintenance, and restores practical use of the space—without changing the existing upper deck.

Project Highlights

  • Lower deck fully removed due to rot and structural degradation
  • Upper deck preserved and left untouched per strata direction
  • New stair system installed for safe, direct access to the retention pond
  • Reduced maintenance burden while improving resident safety and usability
  • Strata council very satisfied with the outcome and workmanship
