A Fresh Surface,
from the Plywood Up
This 23-foot by 18.5-foot deck had several leaking areas, significant damage, and a history of patches. The homeowners wanted a fresh appearance and a properly renewed surface to address their worries about water getting through.
The work combined repairs to the most water-damaged areas, new plywood, and a new Grey Pearl Plank vinyl surface.
01 · Before
Leaks, Damage, and Repeated Patches
The old vinyl had deteriorated in several places. Previous patching was visible across the deck, and water had caused damage underneath. Replacing the surface was an opportunity to deal with that damage as well as improve the appearance.
02 · Preparation
Repairing the Damage and Laying New Plywood
I repaired the areas where water damage was significant and installed new plywood to prepare the deck for its new vinyl covering. The job was straightforward and progressed smoothly.

03 · The new finish
Grey Pearl Plank Vinyl
My vinyl-deck installer subcontractor installed the Duradeck vinyl in Grey Pearl Plank. The grey plank pattern gives the deck a consistent, refreshed appearance in place of the old patched surface.
The work addressed both the damaged base and the surface covering, with the aim of restoring protection against water leaks and giving the homeowners greater peace of mind.
